About us

Our Story

HearMeSpeak began with one mother's determination to ensure her child had every opportunity to thrive.

Our founder, Ritu Nakra, is the mother of Ananya Nakra, who was diagnosed with bilateral profound hearing loss at just 18 months of age. Through early intervention, cochlear implantation, auditory-verbal therapy, and unwavering family support, Ananya went on to be successfully mainstreamed and is today a confident, articulate advocate for disability inclusion.

Inspired by her own journey, Ritu chose to transform her lived experience into a lifelong mission. She pursued formal education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, and became a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS Cert. AVT®). Combining professional expertise with the empathy of a parent who has walked the same path, she has dedicated her career to helping children and families achieve their fullest potential.

In 2016, Ritu founded HearMeSpeak with a simple yet powerful vision: to empower children with hearing loss, speech and language challenges, learning differences, and neurodevelopmental needs through evidence-based, family-centred care.

Today, HearMeSpeak continues to build on that vision, helping children develop the listening, communication, and learning skills they need to lead confident, independent, and fulfilling lives.
